Daniel Aldridge is a qualified personal trainer. This video has been created for beginners, who simply want to tone up and lose weight at home. The video contains basic nutrition facts and warm up exercises. Daniel will teach you simple but effective body weight and dumbbell exercises. All you need is yourself and a pair of dumbbells or equivalent.
Though not a newbie to workouts and exercise, I’ve not participated in this type of workout for a long time due to some lengthy illness and injury factors. That being said, I thought this video might be a good way to start to ease my way back in. While the video does go through a number of basic exercises, it offers absolutely no verbal instruction or guidance which I find odd since it is marketed as being for beginners. It consists completely of a music track and videos of the trainer going through the exercises. There are text captions on the screen periodically to let you know what is coming up next and how many you will do. However, when you are in the middle of doing an exercise, you may not be able to see your TV screen to watch for those text captions, while at the same time keeping your body in the proper alignment for the exercise you are doing. Speaking of which, there is also no instruction given for correct body positioning to avoid injury or undue stress when doing the exercises. You have to rely solely on your interpretation of what you see in the videos.and hope you have got it right. Again, for a product aimed at beginners who may not know this information, it seems odd (and possibly dangerous to the user!) to leave it out. The brief bit of nutritional information at the end of the video was interesting to read, but fairly basic and not enough to boost my star rating.
