NY AIKIKAI: PAST, PRESENT, & FUTURE

The DVD chronicles “the history of Aikido and how it relates to the New York Aikikai including vintage films and phototgraphs of the original dojo and its early members, as well as never before seen footage of Yamada sensei and Sugano sensei.”

This full length, three part video, filmed on location at the NEW YORK AIKIKAI, for the first time ever, documents the past, present and future of this place, which, after its foundation in 1964, has grown to become one of the most popular and respected Dojos to practice the Japanese martial art of Aikido in accordance with the principles of its founder Morihei Ueshiba.

PAST: Learn about the history of Aikido and how it relates to the NEW YORK AIKIKAI as you enjoy the rare black and white vintage films and photographs of the original dojo and it’s early members, as well as never before seen footage of Yamada Sensei and Sugano Sensei at different points in their careers.

PRESENT: The second part features detailed demonstrations of a wide variety of hand and weapon techniques as they happen every day at NEW YORK AIKIKAI. Here you can see Sugano Sensei, Yamada Sensei, Harvey Konigsberg Sensei, Donovan Waite Sensei and all the main instructors of the Dojo. This is an important training aid for beginners and advanced students alike, as something new will be discovered every time you watch.
