Working with various attachment organizations requires a deep understanding of both attachment theory and sensitivity to the fears and apprehensions of insecures on both distancing and clinging sides of the spectrum. We will discuss the benefits of using crossing techniques in couple therapy to minimize defensive reactions and to increase intervention effectiveness. Also, we hope to cover the matter of unresolved trauma and loss in the emergence of disorganization during therapy.
Educational Objectives:
- List at least five characteristics of insecure avoidant organization.
- List at least five characteristics of insecure ambivalent organization.
- Differentiate and describe the difference between secure attachment and secure-functioning relationships.

He has a clinical practice in Calabasas, CA, where he has specialized for the last 15 years in working with couples and individuals who wish to be in relationships. He and his wife, Tracey Boldemann-Tatkin, developed the PACT Institute for the purpose of training other psychotherapists to use this method in their clinical practice.
